Academic Degrees

The faculty awards a Bachelor of Science (Honors) degree in ten semesters in the following specializations:

  1. Computer Science.
  2. Statistics and Computer Science.
  3. Mathematics and Computer Science.

The faculty also awards a Technical Diploma in six semesters for the following specializations:

  1. Information Technology.
  2. Software Engineering and Systems.

Additionally, the faculty grants Postgraduate Diploma, Master’s, and Doctorate degrees in the above specializations.

Bachelor’s Curriculum in Mathematical and Computer Sciences

The faculty offers three bachelor’s degree programs: Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Computer Science, Statistics and Computer Science, and Mathematics and Computer Science. The curriculum includes university requirements, faculty requirements, and major-specific courses.

The first four semesters consist of common courses for all bachelor’s students in the faculty. Specialization begins in the fifth semester, where students undertake six additional semesters focusing on professional courses required for their major, along with some faculty requirements.

Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Computer Science Curriculum

The curriculum aims to provide the student with scientific and practical knowledge related to the main areas of their specialization. It also focuses on practical training to develop the necessary professional skills, applying mathematical principles, algorithms, and computer science theories in modeling and designing computer systems.

Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Statistics and Computer Science Curriculum

The curriculum aims to prepare the student as a successful statistical analyst by providing them with theoretical and practical knowledge in statistics and training them to use statistical methods for quality control in various industrial applications. The curriculum also aims to develop the student’s cognitive and practical abilities, enabling them to serve the issues, development, and progress of society in their field of specialization. It emphasizes the use of appropriate audiovisual tools when presenting data and information to beneficiaries, as well as utilizing past and present data to make future predictions.

Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Mathematics and Computer Science Curriculum

The curriculum aims to prepare the graduate to bridge the theoretical and practical aspects of mathematics and computer science by providing the student with scientific and practical knowledge in pure and applied mathematics. It trains the student in the basics of research work and the use of applied mathematical software packages, developing the student’s ability for self-learning and keeping up with local, regional, and global developments in their field of specialization. The curriculum also aims to develop the student’s ability to build mathematical models and use them in planning and decision-making, while qualifying the student in the areas of designing and building information systems, and applying international standards related to their field of specialization.
