Bachelor’s Curriculum in Engineering and Technology

Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Computer Engineering

The program aims to equip students with the scientific and practical knowledge and professional skills necessary in various fields of computer engineering, such as computer architecture, applications, intelligent systems, computer networks, and communications. Graduates will be highly competent to work in companies specializing in computer manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance, as well as in devices controlled by computers. Additionally, they will be well-prepared to work in institutions and companies specializing in the manufacturing, installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer networks and communications. Moreover, graduates will find ample job opportunities in both the private and public sectors that implement information systems and computer network technologies.

Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Food Engineering

The Food Engineering program is the first of its kind in Sudan. The curriculum is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills required for designing and operating food processing equipment and systems while ensuring the production of high-quality, safe, and healthy food using the latest technologies. The program aims to produce engineers capable of keeping pace with advancements in the food industry, addressing challenges in food production, and providing innovative solutions. Additionally, it prepares highly skilled engineers to fill technical positions in food manufacturing, offering strong scientific and practical training to support engineering applications in food processing and preservation.

Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Chemical Engineering

The Chemical Engineering Technology program focuses on studying industrial processes, designing units and facilities, and managing their operations. In addition to covering fundamental sciences, general engineering, and humanities, the program emphasizes linking theoretical knowledge with practical applications. This is achieved through engineering design, laboratory experiments, supervised practical sessions, industrial training, and scientific visits. The program also fosters a spirit of scientific research and innovation through graduation projects and seminars.

Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Civil Engineering

Civil engineering is one of the most important branches of engineering, focusing on the study, design, and analysis of structures such as buildings, roads, bridges, tunnels, airports, ports, sewage systems, dams, and irrigation projects. Civil engineering has greatly evolved alongside industrial development to produce new and advanced construction materials. The Civil Engineering program includes both theoretical and practical studies, supported by laboratories and workshops in construction engineering, building engineering, and water and irrigation engineering. The Civil Engineering Department is one of the newest at the University of Gezira, having been established in 2005 to graduate highly skilled and distinguished engineers in this field. As the University of Gezira is known for scientific excellence, this department was a necessary addition to the university.

Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Medical Engineering

The University of Gezira pioneered the graduation of medical engineers in the country, offering the first specialization in medical engineering. This program was designed to prepare specialized engineering professionals in the medical field who are capable of working efficiently in research areas related to the discipline. Medical engineering is a blend of medical science, engineering, and basic sciences that has produced a series of devices and systems used in all aspects of healthcare across various branches and specialties. These devices have become essential tools for diagnosis, treatment, and patient monitoring. Medical engineering is one of the latest branches of engineering that emerged with the modern renaissance.

Given the need to develop medical devices and equipment that contribute to patient health and recovery, engineers specializing in this field are required to design these devices while having a thorough understanding of medical sciences, such as anatomy and human physiology, to comprehend how each system works and to improve it. As a result, the need for qualified medical engineers who are knowledgeable in these specialties has emerged. Graduates of this program work as specialists in various fields of medical engineering in both the public and private sectors (hospitals, healthcare organizations like the Food and Drug Authority), as well as in industrial sectors, academic institutions, medical device companies, agencies, research centers, and regulatory bodies concerned with specifications and standards in government entities.
