Establishment of the Community College
The headquarters of the Community College is located in Wad Madani City, with branches in several villages across Al-gazirah State. The Community Colleges operate under a national policy supported by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Ministry of Social Affairs, Women, and Children. A coordinating administration for all community colleges in Sudan is established under the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Currently, the college targets women and grants graduates a certificate of attendance from the University of Gezira, indicating that the student has received training in the college’s programs. The college also aims to expand its focus to other community sectors with innovative programs, such as digital literacy and computer training.
College Objectives
Fulfilling the university’s role aligned with its philosophy to raise awareness and educate the Sudanese community, especially rural communities.
Meeting the community’s need for semi-professional cadres in fields required by society by organizing general and specialized training courses in collaboration with relevant university colleges.
Assisting in establishing effective grassroots organizations in rural communities and guiding them on how to benefit from governmental and non-governmental rural development organizations, providing advice, consultation, and training to lead development and reform initiatives in their local communities.
Promoting training activities, studies, and research aimed at community development and improving rural life among local and international institutions and organizations to secure financial and technical support for implementing these activities.
Integrating humanitarian and voluntary organization programs, whether local or international, through the college’s diverse programs.
Educating and training women in the following areas:
A. Acquiring religious knowledge to deepen their faith in Allah (SWT) and perform family duties.
B. Gaining general knowledge on household management, including motherhood and childcare, as well as nutritional, health, and economic aspects of the family.
C. Developing skills to make the most of their free time by improving their family’s economic and living standards.
D. Acquiring general environmental awareness to help protect the environment, conserve household energy, and beautify the home and its surroundings.
Academic Curricula
The college offers five academic curricula as follows:
Islamic Studies:
This curriculum covers the characteristics of Islam, family jurisprudence, education, acts of worship, Quranic sciences, the Prophet’s biography (Seerah), and Hadith.Food and Nutrition:
- Theoretical Aspect: Focuses on nutritional education, food components, and human nutrition from childhood to old age.
- Practical Aspect: Involves the production of sweets, baked goods, pastries, meat products, dairy and its derivatives, concentrated juices, jams, and training on small-scale manufacturing machines.
Aesthetics:
This curriculum is divided into three sections:- Fine Arts
- Handicrafts
- Tailoring and Sewing
Environmental Studies:
Focuses on natural resource issues, plant components, nurseries, public afforestation and its importance, environmental health promotion, pollution, and its dangers.Health:
Covers topics such as breastfeeding, balanced nutrition, malnutrition diseases, immunization, diarrheal diseases, reproductive health, mental health, elderly care, endemic diseases, first aid, harmful practices, and nursing.
