Throughout its journey, the University of Gezira has been keen on strengthening scientific ties with universities and scientific institutions inside and outside the country. Today, it is a member of the International Association of Universities, the Association of Arab Universities, the Association of African Universities, the Federation of Universities of the Islamic World, the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils, and the Francophone University Agency. It has signed a large number of academic agreements and twinning programs with many universities, global organizations, and scientific institutions inside and outside Sudan, particularly in the fields of training, teaching, scientific research, and exchange of expertise. The university has gained a good reputation in many academic circles abroad and has won several scientific awards, the most important of which are:

Recognized outstanding achievements in Islamic economics, science, and technology. The top prize was awarded to LaunchGood, a crowdfunding platform that introduced Islamic humanitarian values into the digital space. The second prize was Seed Out, another crowdfunding platform focused on supporting small business projects with sustainable community value. The Facility of Medicine was awarded the special prize for excellence in higher education institutions in the least developed member countries. This recognition highlights the college’s outstanding contributions to research and its commitment to excellence in the field of medicine.

The award ceremony is held during the Century International Quality ERA Convention, which takes place in different cities around the world, including Geneva, Switzerland. The selection process involves research and analysis conducted by leaders, entrepreneurs, and quality experts, who evaluate candidates based on the QC 100 Total Quality Management Model

The Al-Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences is a prestigious recognition given to institutions excelling in the field of medical sciences. In 2002, this award was presented to the Faculty of Medicine for being recognized as the best among Arab countries. It highlights excellence in medical education, research, and contributions to healthcare advancements within the region.

The Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD), established in 1970, is a specialized organization under the League of Arab States.
