The faculty updated and revised its curriculum in 2012 to grant students a Bachelor of Science (Honors) degree in ten semesters instead of the previous General Bachelor of Science in eight semesters. The specializations include:

  1. Environmental Health:
This specialization is designed to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills in the field of environmental health. It prepares students to become ideal professionals capable of integrating and applying fundamental knowledge of public and environmental health, engaging in research that enhances knowledge in these fields, and acquiring the skills needed to assess and improve health conditions through research and service provision. The curriculum focuses primarily on disease prevention, vector control, environmental pollution protection, epidemic surveillance, health promotion, and community well-being to reduce health disparities and disease burden.

  2. Epidemiology:
This specialization aims to enable students to identify and monitor disease patterns, trends, causes, and contributing factors, as well as to oversee infection control, early epidemic surveillance, and disease eradication programs. Additionally, students will conduct scientific and applied research related to health and environmental issues to contribute to community welfare.

  3. Health Education:
The Health Education specialization focuses on providing technical consultations in health education to official and voluntary organizations, forming partnerships to implement health awareness programs that promote positive attitudes and behaviors to enhance individual and community health. It also aims to prepare students for careers in health education, conduct applied research, address health challenges in society, and study Sudanese cultures, attitudes, and practices related to health and illness. Furthermore, students will develop and implement educational programs that support community health and well-being.

  4. Food Safety and Health:
This specialization prepares students in the field of food safety and health, graduating health professionals who contribute to controlling foodborne diseases and delivering health services that enhance public health at the individual, family, and community levels. It also focuses on training health professionals in food quality control from production to consumption, utilizing modern techniques and systems in food safety and health.
