Plant Diseases Center
The Plant Diseases Center was established in 1994 with the aim of conducting scientific research in the field of plant diseases and establishing a link between producers and researchers in this area to transfer modern techniques for disease resistance. The center has several collaborative programs with agricultural projects in Sudan and local and international research centers to conduct joint research and address plant disease-related issues. The center organizes training courses for all sectors of agricultural workers, including farmers, technicians, and graduates, to enhance agricultural work and increase production by raising awareness of plant diseases and how to control them. The center offers both Master’s and PhD degrees in Plant Pathology.
The Goat Research Center
The Goat Research Center was established in 1999 with the aim of purifying and studying local goat breeds and focusing on their genetic improvement. The center also aims to improve goat production methods, including feeding, care, breeding, and the processing of products. Additionally, the center is dedicated to research on the economics of goat production.
The Gezira Project Studies Center
The Gezira Project Studies Center was established in 2014 with the goal of connecting the Gezira Project’s management, people, and geography with the university’s students, faculty, and support staff. It also aims to engage with local community organizations such as agricultural unions, producers, and decision-makers. The center participates in enhancing the project’s economic capacities by improving the management of human and material resources, documenting the vast amount of studies, research, and appropriate technologies conducted at the University of Gezira and other research institutions related to the Gezira Project, classifying and analyzing them for further utilization.
