Centers - Faculty of Economics and Rural Development
Population Studies Center
Established in 1980 at Al-Razi Campus in Wad Madani, the center aims to:
- Conduct, coordinate, develop, and document research in population studies and related fields, disseminating knowledge broadly, with a particular focus on making it accessible to decision-makers in population studies.
- Develop and organize postgraduate programs in population and development studies and related fields, in accordance with the academic regulations of the university.
- Teach courses at various academic levels across different university faculties as determined by their academic policies.
- Train specialized personnel in development issues, population challenges, and their relationship to economic, social, and health development.
- Coordinate and collaborate with local, regional, and international institutions in the center’s areas of expertise, establishing regular partnerships.

Center for Training and Economic, Social, and Administrative Studies
Established in 1985 near Al-Jazeera Tower in Wad Medani, the center aims to:
- Organize specialized training courses for professionals in the public and private sectors, tailored to meet institutional needs.
- Coordinate technical diploma programs in the college’s fields of specialization and other related areas.
- Guide training efforts and student research toward collecting data in relevant fields, following a structured scientific plan to build and document a useful information database for research purposes.
- Collaborate with economic and social policy institutions to provide information in ways that maximize its use in policy formulation.
- Connect the university and research institutions to modern technological systems, such as the internet and information networks, to support scientific research.
Microfinance Center
Established in 2012 at the Nashishiba University Campus in Wad Madani, the center aims to:
- Conduct and implement research and studies in the field of microfinance and the development of small enterprise activities.
- Seek to apply the recommendations of scientific research and theoretical and practical studies in microfinance and small enterprise development, guiding the implementation of technologies suited to Sudan’s conditions.
- Train and qualify postgraduate students in microfinance and small enterprise development.
- Design and implement training courses, discussion sessions, lectures, seminars, workshops, and conferences on microfinance, small enterprise development, technology application, and raising awareness in this field.
- Encourage communication and cooperation with relevant local, regional, and international institutions.
- Establish and develop a database in microfinance and small enterprise development.
- Provide scientific and technical consultations to government agencies and institutions working in microfinance and small enterprise development.
