Dr. Al-Tijani Al-Noor, Vice Chancellor of the University of Gezira, along with Dr. Yasir Hilal, the University Secretary-General, and Mr. Mujtaba Mahmoud, Director of Financial and Accounting Administration, visited the Hantoub Campus as part of a broader tour covering several university campuses to assess the extent of the damage and identify the necessary requirements for resuming operations.
The Vice Chancellor stated that the university administration has developed a comprehensive reconstruction plan and is determined to restore and rehabilitate all campuses. He added:
“We expect the support of the state and all those affiliated with the university. We have witnessed firsthand the extensive destruction caused by the militia. The damage to Hantoub Campus is severe, but restoration work and environmental sanitation campaigns have already begun. We will complete this effort to welcome our students back.”
Meanwhile, the University Secretary-General noted that they had assessed the extent of the damage at the campus but emphasized that, thanks to the efforts of university members, Hantoub Campus is now among the best-maintained campuses.
He pledged to provide the necessary resources required for the campus at this stage, stating:
“Hantoub Campus will serve as one of the university’s examination centers for the time being, and we are working on reopening all its lecture halls.”
The university delegation arrived in Wad Medani, the capital of Al-Jazira State, this afternoon and commenced its inspection visit at Hantoub Campus.
